- Idosra is a hybrid platformer/role-playing game. The player progresses by finding books and earning the necessary experience points (EXP) with which to learn from them. The player advances the story and unlocks new areas by conversing with NPCs.
- Idosra is not a metroidvania. The world is divided into 36 separate areas connected by a world map. Areas unlock as the game progresses.
- There are 72 areas total: 36 “main areas” connected to the world map, and 36 “alternate areas” that branch off of main areas.
